A registered sex offender accused of murder nearly two decades ago has been charged with stabbing a man to death near the Staten Island Ferry terminal in Staten Island.

Leonard Evans, 49, was arraigned Sunday on murder and other charges, accused of repeatedly stabbing German Pagan, 30, and leaving him to die on a park bench at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Police found Pagan on Richmond Terrace, between the ferry terminal and the Staten Island Yankees ballfield in St. George, then followed a blood trail to Evans’ home on Slosson Terrace, about a half mile away, law enforcement sources said.

Evans had a stab wound on his arm, according to sources.

Evans, who was convicted of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in 1997, has served three separate state prison terms.

He was convicted of robbery in 1991, and was sentenced to 31/2 years in prison for the 1997 sexual abuse case.

More recently, he was hit with a seven-to-14-year sentence for drug dealing in 2001. He was released in August 2014.

Back in 1997, he was also charged with murder, but the case against him was sealed, police sources said.

He had been accused in the killing of Anthony Ievolella, 63, who was found slain in his home on Jan. 1, 1997, according to the Staten Island Advance.

Evans was released just days later because of a lack of evidence against him, the paper reported.

Evans, who was ordered held without bail, is due back in court Monday.

"In the game, which is still in development, players assume the role of an American service member stationed at Camp Bucca, a detention center that was located near the port city of Umm Qasr in southeast Iraq, at an undetermined time during the Iraq War. Throughout the game, players interact with Iraqi prisoners, who are clothed in the camp’s trademark yellow jumpsuits and occasionally have black hoods pulled over their heads. The player must interrogate the prisoners, choosing between methods like waterboarding or electrocution to extract information. If an interrogation goes too far, the questioner can kill the prisoner." (thanks Amir)

A source has told me about the extensive corruption among the ranks of Syrian officers (which is not new and not surprising) and also among their allies, including Hizbullah and Shi`ite militias and others.  Apparently, Iranian commanders have been failing to putting an end to that.  Smuggling is wide open especially through the port of Latakia.  No one who enters the Syrian war can stay clean.
